I am a yoga teacher, aromatherapist, Reiki Master and lover of life. As a mother of two young children and a metastatic breast cancer patient/thriver, I am interested in all things health and wellness from physical to mental and emotional.
I like to think of myself as a positive person. That theory was totally put to the test in 2011 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age thirty four. Then my mom who had been fighting cancer for 15 years passed away three months after my diagnosis. I wasn’t quite sure what to do with myself – I thought that remembering to breathe would be a good place to start – and so I did.
Through the crazy ups and downs of ongoing treatment something kept coming to my attention – what am I learning from this (good and bad) and how can I help others in some small way?
I’m not sure of the answer yet, but I thought that sharing ideas, knowledge, experiences might be a good place to start. And so the Deva Life blog was born.
Deva is a sanskrit word for celestial or shining – a powerful connection to nature, the universe, and the ability to connect with the divine.
All of those concepts, to me, are key part of healing and creating balance in my life. Finding that balance – which is different for each one of us- is key to beginning to create a healthy life.
Through my experience as a yoga teacher, aromatherapist and reiki master I will explore concepts that work ( and don’t work?!) for me and family. I also will invite many of the wonderful Naturopathic Doctors, Nutritionists, and various other holistic professionals from my circle to share their knowledge with us. I want to have fun, to share, to teach and to keep learning every day. I will also post about parts of my breast cancer journey along the way in hopes that is might helps others.
I hope you will join me whenever you feel like it and we can learn from each other how to create a brilliant, healthy, loved filled, universally connected and powerful DevaLife.
