I must admit I was a little nervous while we were setting up on Friday. I wanted everything to be perfect for the women attending. This was the first year so it really was a test to see if my vision for this weekend was as powerful put into practice as it was in my head.
As the women started to arrive and I met all these fantastic ladies that I had exchanged so many emails with I began to get very excited for the weekend. Each and every person who walked through that door was ready to be there in body, mind and spirit.
Breast cancer was the reason they came together but it went much deeper than that and I think they each got something personal out of the experience. I know I did.
I loved learning everyone’s stories and chatting with such a dynamic group. So many different backgrounds, experiences and personalities that all added their own special piece to the weekend.
Leo, our yoga teacher for the weekend, led 4 wonderful therapeutic yoga sessions. She was the perfect person for the job. Our massage therapist Bev worked her butt off making sure she could squeeze in as many appointments as she could in 3 days. Darin’s Thai Yoga massage was also a great addition. There were many relaxed faces coming out of the treatment rooms. Jen the Naturopath and Lacey the Nutritionist gave informative talks and I was trying to take as many notes as I could! I will be adding many more veggies to my diet this week!
Our volunteer Corinne was a huge help. She was an extension of me and helped keep the weekend moving along smoothly. She was also our in house paprazzi for the weekend following us around with her camera and ipad!
I couldn’t have done it without my team; I am a very lucky girl. A heartfelt thank you to all of you!
To all the women who attended (aka my 25 new good friends) you are so special to me and seeing you bond over the weekend meant the world to me. Each one of you was supposed to be there to make our group complete. It was definitely a healing weekend, not to mention fun! There was lots of chatting, laughing, listening and even some tears over the three days. When it came time to go we were joking about refusing to leave and hiding out on Shanti’s property until they forced us to go.
To my breast cancer ladies – you created a compassionate, fun and safe environment where we could all just BE. I thank you for that.
And lastly this weekend would not have happened without the donations from so many individuals and companies. I still pinch myself sometimes when I think about how wonderfully my dream to help other women going through breast cancer came together.
I promised my family and friends that I would now take a little break, take some time to recharge, finish up my own surgeries and heal…. so I can start working on NEXT YEAR!
Love and Light,
